JINDY'S CORNER

Hello and welcome to Jindy's Corner!  My name is Jindy and I am 4 years old. My mom is a beagle, my dad is a shepherd and chow mix and that makes me a "Curbstone Setter"!  My pet parents rescued me and my 2 other "Curbstone Setter" sisters and we love living here.

  • Look below for the animal rescue organizations being helped through our donation program.  You can help, too!
  • We're giving away FREE DOG FOOD - can you beat that!?
  • Later I'll tell you some tips for keeping your canine pets healthy.
  • Our pet parents attended the GulfCoast Dog Magazine 2009 Pet Extravaganza in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, on October 17, 2009.
  • Look at that new style 3-in-1 orthopedic dog bed that is a convertible, washable dog bed.

KEEP YOUR DOGS HEALTHY

  • Cure those "hot spots" - When we scratch too much and have an open "hot spot" try giving us a bath with natural oatmeal shampoo.  Then wrap us to allow our spots to heal - try using an Ace Bandage on our legs and a tube shirt or old tee shirt for our bodies.
  • Give us plenty of fresh cool water - We need to stay hydrated all year 'round.  Check out our tank style water cooler for dogs
  • Give us shelter from the wind and chilly rain - Please cover our kennel with a Solar Shield to protect us from the stormy wind and rain this season.
  • Prevent bug bites - Please check out the raised dog beds or bring us inside.  Stinging Fire Ants and crawly bugs are everywhere and raised dog cots will keep us off the muddy ground and away from biting bugs.

Yes, we really do NEED a dog bed.
Dog beds prevent us from jumping onto your expensive furniture and are actually good for us.  All of my canine buddies, especially BIG SAM, should not lie on hard surfaces.  Protect us early from arthritis and hip dysplasia which may occur as we get older.  If we spend time lying on hard surfaces we will develop sores and calluses over bony protrusions (such as the elbow) and you won't like those ugly, dark spots on our soft, shiny coats.   Your dog will be healthier if she sleeps on her own dog bed.

How can I pick the right dog bed for my pet?

First determine how your dog sleeps.  (I get my best doggie sleep when I stretch out and roll onto my back with my paws straight up in the air!)  If your pet sleeps curled up in a ball, then a super soft nesting dog bed would be your best choice.  Measure your dog while she is resting in the curled up position and then add 7 inches to determine the best dog bed length.  If you have a larger dog who enjoys  sleeping stretched out with her legs fully extended, then a large round or rectangular dog bed is your best choice.

  1. Well, let's get started.  I love "speaking" but only when my pet parents ask me to "speak".  I'm part Beagle so it's fun for me, too. Stop by this page often and ask questions .....how to care for your dogs, which dog bed is right for them, or for more details on dog products you find on the web.  Or just chat about something cool your pet did today.  I LOVE to "speak".
  2. This bright-eyed pup is named Epic. His owner is Andrea of State College, PA. Andrea told me the rescue center thought Epic was an Australian Shepherd, but he is actually a Catahoula Leopard Dog. Missing one back leg due to injuries and partially deaf Epic was not hampered from enjoying the day at Duman Lake Park with his canine and human family. He was very friendly and enjoyed "snuffling" for bugs in the grass. Opening your heart to a rescue animal is a very rewarding experience.
  3. While travelling recently we attended the Altoona Area Kennel Association's Dog Agility Contest held at Duman Lake Park, in Ebensburg, PA on May 19th. There we met happy, energetic dogs and great owners and trainers. Among the outstanding dogs was a doberman named Becca. She was very friendly and responded to my camera instantly. As you can see she is quite photogenic. Bill and I had a great afternoon watching the dogs run the courses and every one of them did super. Agility meets are a good way to socialize and exercise your dogs.
